Socks – Cuff down with a heel flap and gusset

Cost:  $45

Dates:  Wednesdays December 6 and 20 – 5:30 to 7:30

Skill needed:  Intermediate Knitter.

Materials needed:  (2)16” US 1 circular needles, 1 skein of sock yarn (100 grams) and tapestry needle

Gauge:  7-8 sts per inch

Knitting socks can quickly become a favorite pastime.  You will learn to knit in the round using 2 circular needles.  I will be showing you my favorite socks to knit and wear.  We will start with the Cast On, one that is stretchy enough so that your socks goes on easy.  We will make a heel flap and gusset, so you have a nice fitting heel.  Finally we finish with the Kitchener Stitch on the toe.

Knitting 101 – Learn to Knit a Hat

Dates:  Saturday, October 21 10:00 am to Noon

Skill Level: Beginner – new to knitting

Materials Needed:  1 skein chunky weight yarn, 16” US 9 circular needle

If you have been wanting to learn the skill of knitting, this is the class for you.  We will meet for 2 hours during which time you will learn to cast on stitches and knit.  We will make a basic hat constructed of just knit stitches.  Because this hat is made without seams, you will be knitting continuously in the round.

This class is open to children and adults.


Knitting 102

Cost:  $25

Dates:  Wednesday, September 27. 5:30 pm  to 7:30 pm

Skill Level: Beginner – knowledge of casting on stitches and knitting

Materials Needed:

2 skeins of chunky weight yarn, 16” or 24″ US 9 circular needle

Knitting 102 is the second class to learning the basic skills of knitting.  In Knitting 101, you learned to cast on stitches and knit.  In this class, you will learn to knit a flat piece, adding purl and bind-off to your knitting skills.  You will also learn several stitch patterns.


Crochet 101

Cost:  $25

Dates: Wednesday, November 8 – 5:30 – 7:30 pm

Skill Level:  Beginner – new to crochet

Materials Needed:  worsted weight yarn, size G or H crochet hook, tapestry needle

Sign up to learn basic crochet skills.  In this class, you are welcome to make a dishcloth or continue in the same pattern and turn your piece into a beautiful scarf.  If you are choosing the dishcloth, a cotton yarn would be best.  You will learn to chain stitch, slip stitch, single crochet, and double crochet.  Crocheted edges are a great way to finish projects.  So if you are a knitter and want to learn an additional skill for putting edges on afghans, blankets or even sweaters, consider this class.
