This is the place for you! Following the Learn-To-Knit Afghan Book by Barbara G. Walker, we will explore 32 different knitting techniques during the upcoming year. We meet every other week, learning a new technique and work throughout the year to enhance our knitting skills. Continuing to meet every other Thursday Night 4:00p.m. This group is open to anyone who purchases the book ($19.99) and at least 3 skeins of yarn from Magpie’s Cottage to get started .
After you complete this book you should be able to proclaim your PGK (Pretty Good Knitter) Degree and you will officially be the Boss of Your Yarn!

You will learn basics of knitting. Cast-on, Knit, Purl, and Bind-off.. We supply the yarn, needles, pattern and beginning knittng book. We offer 2 different class times to fit your schedule – day or night.

The “Thorp” Helmet Hat – Child and Adult sizes! This classic looking “helmet hat” offers a top down version to the tradition of knitting hats in the round.

Beyond Basic Crochet 102 – Magpie’s Market Bag
Continue with the fundamentals and expanding on basic stitches. This “part 2” crochet class will help students learn pattern reading and expand on standard stitch techniques all while completing a terrific and useful market bag.

As we continue our knitting journey, we need to focus on the special techniques that allow us to finish with style. In this workshop you will learn to produce smooth lines in seaming, pick up the right number of stitches for edges, create button bands and buttonholes, along with other finishing touches. After this class your projects will be “picture perfect”

In an effort to better serve Magpie’s clients, the YARN PROFESSORS will be available for out-of-store projects (yarn and pattern not purchased at The Cottage) for a $5.00 fee and of course FREE for in-store projects (yarn and pattern purchased at The Cottage). No Appointment is necessary, just walk in Fridays from 1:00p.m. – 4:00p.m. and help will be available on a first-come first-serve basis. (Please note: This time is set aside for limited help, NOT for instruction, one-on-one instruction is available for a fee of $25.00 per hour.)
