In an effort to better serve Magpie’s clients, the YARN PROFESSORS will be available for out-of-store projects (yarn and pattern not purchased at The Cottage) for a $5.00 fee and of course FREE for in-store projects (yarn and pattern purchased at The Cottage). No Appointment is necessary, just walk in Tuesdays from 1:00p.m. – 4:00p.m. and help will be available on a first-come first-serve basis. (Please note: This time is set aside for limited help, NOT for instruction, one-on-one instruction is available for a fee of $25.00 per hour.)

Are you an experienced knitter who want to increase their skills?
This is the place for you! Following the Learn-To-Knit Afghan Book by Barbara G. Walker, we will explore 32 different knitting techniques during the upcoming year. We meet every other week, learning a new technique and work throughout the year to enhance our knitting skills. Continuing to meet every other Thursday Night 4:00p.m. This group is open to anyone who purchases the book ($19.99) and at least 3 skeins of yarn from Magpie’s Cottage to get started .
After you complete this book you should be able to proclaim your PGK (Pretty Good Knitter) Degree and you will officially be the Boss of Your Yarn!
NOTE: This group will meet directly before Thursday Stitch Together, so please stay and enjoy knitting at the cottage.

Knitting 102 – Magpie’s Baby Hat
You already know how to cast-on, knit, purl, and bind-off.. Now we will help you take your knitting to the next level! Hats are fast, easy, and very satasfying, after you’ve knit one, your can knit any hat! We will focus on pattern reading and knitting in the round on circular and double pointed needles.

Learn to Crochet - Sampler
There is only one way to learn to crochet – just do it! Crochet is a very basic, fast and functional way to create wonderful things to use in your home, office or wear! This is a beginners class.

Entrelac Treasure Bags- (Multi-part class)
Entrelac is a series of building blocks, one row leaning right and one leaning left. It’s started with a straight cast-on, then a row of triangles for a foundation. Then alternating rows, starting with an initial triangle, then rectangles, and ending with a row of triangles. It is most easily done with short rows – increasing rather than decreasing short rows.

Everyone who has taken this class RAVES about it! Are you a yarn “thrower” and secretly have always wanted to knit in the “continental” way? Now’s your chance! In this wonderful, technique packed class, you will learn how to knit in the continental fashion, and learn two-color, two-handed, Fair Isle Knitting while making a sweetheart hat!
Dates: Saturday, March 6 (11:00 – 1:00)

Materials Needed: 150 yds of worsted weight yarn (main color), small amount of worsted weight yarn (contrast color), 16” circular needle size US #8 (or needle size to obtain gauge of 4.5 sts/inch), double pointed #8 needles, and stitch marker.
Homework: With main color and circurlar needles, cast on 90 stitches. Place stitch marker, and join in round, work 5 rounds in k1p1 ribbing, Round 6: Knit increasing every 9th stitch to a total of 100 stitches.


Learn how to knit 2 socks at 1 time! If you suffer from second sock syndrome this is the class for you! Learn the tips and tricks for knitting socks two at a time and recover from your second sock syndrome! To learn this technique, you will be working with two different colors making a pair of baby socks.
